Today marks R U OK? Day – a powerful reminder that sometimes the most important conversations begin with the simplest questions.

As principals leading schools across the Northern Territory, we understand the weight of responsibility that comes with caring for our communities. Yet in our commitment to supporting others, we sometimes forget that we too deserve care and connection.

The question "Are you OK?" opens doors, but it's our willingness to stay present for the answer that creates real change.

Today, I invite you to:

• Pause and honestly assess how you're feeling – what do you need right now?
• Think of a colleague who's been on your mind – reach out with a call or message.
• Consider what truly helps you find balance and peace in your busy life.
• Schedule a conversation over lunch or a walk with someone who could use your support, or whose support you could use.

Today, let's remember that supporting each other is just as vital to the strength of our profession.
