President Update
I hope this finds you well as we approach the middle of term 3.
A key piece of my work continues to be engagement in the Principal Employment Advisory group. The NTPA position continues to be to advocate for Principal ongoing employment based on the principles underpinning the new model/frame work should meet the following:
- transparent
- simple and easy to understand
- stand the test of time
- fair and equitable
- credible
- comparable and competitive across jurisdictions
- facilitate and encourage incumbents to seek promotional opportunities.
The advisory group is continuing to work on a model that meets these principles. The advisory group will continue to provide communication as and when they can.
On Wednesday 12 August we launched NTPA’s first Ignite session. This idea was developed based on feedback from members in 2019 around areas of development including to build confidence and capability of presentation skills, public speaking and building our story telling ability.
Ignite events are held in cities around the world. The result can be a fast and fun presentation. This style allows for a deeper connection with the audience. I have attended ignites that have made me laugh, cry and pause for reflection. In an ignite presentation presenters get 20 slides, which automatically advance every 15 seconds. The result is a fast and fun presentation which lasts just 5 minutes. This equates to 300 seconds which is equivalent to 10 TV commercials.
A huge thank you to Crystal Lattuga the Learning support officer from Middleton Grange Public School in NSW, Erin Ranie Assistant Principal from Nakara Primary School and Michael Tooler Principal of Sattler Christain College.
We apologise for our significant technical difficulties during this event. We provide the following links for you to enjoy.

I hope that developing covid plans has not been too onerous and that you have found at least a little bit of time to focus on what you enjoy.
Please stay well.
