Seven Wonders of the World

WHAT DO YOU PERCEIVE AS THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD?

Students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World." Though there were some differences, the following received the most votes:

BR11.jpg

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2. Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noticed that one quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are:

1. To see
2. To hear
3. To touch
4. To taste
5. To feel
6. To laugh
7. And to love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Out of the mouth of babes….we were reminded not to overlook the simple and ordinary and not take for granted our most precious!

No man can build by hand nor purchase these special wonders of the world, yet it takes the mind of a child to make us stop and recall what is truly important in life. So often we hear live like it’s your last!

Sometimes, as leaders we are so focused on the busyness of the school and we miss the opportunity to sense and seize moments to enjoy the journey. This journey requires a definite game strategy to ensure we make the distance. Within this strategy you need to know when to walk, when to run or just stop and enjoy the moment.

What are the things you have stopped to notice and wonder about in your school?

How do you remain energized to engaging all your senses?

NTPA aim to help you make your journey easier and ensure you have the support to make the distance. We hope you can take the time to connect with your chapter, or some of the events we are hosting.

“You can’t live intentionally if you’re forever living hurriedly (M, Warrell, 2015).”

Principal's contracts vs ongoing employment survey

We would like to thank everyone that responded to our recent survey on Principal's contracts vs ongoing employment.

Whilst is it difficult to develop a firm position given the variables involved - examples including but not limited to superannuation, school based conditions and leave loadings we wanted to gather initial feelings.

Of the 143 responses the percentage of responses is as follows:

  1. Executive contracts to become ongoing Principal positions 57%
  2. Executive contracts to remain the same 19%
  3. Unsure 15%
  4. Other 9%

We appreciate the feedback and will be utilising the data while we craft the official NTPA position as more information comes to light.  We welcome conversations in the future on this critical topic.
