It was wonderful to catch up with many of you at the Leaders’ Summit. The Summit provided us with an opportunity to reflect, recalibrate and refine, as we look beyond the horizon of our achievements and to continue to drive school and system improvement. With a range of speakers hopefully you were able to extend your thinking or at least validate you are on the right path. I know I enjoyed the school show cases and hearing the great work our colleagues are doing in leading school improvement.
Thank you to everyone who dropped by our stall and completed our survey.
The first question we asked our participants was if they wished to see contract principals transition to ongoing employment. Below are the results.
The Online Formative Assessment Initiative work is continuing to progress. I recommend you subscribe to this group to ensure you stay informed of the work as it progresses.
ACARA are pleased to share that testing has started on the alpha phase prototypes, and we have held Innovation Forum sessions — all to ensure the initiative is shaped by both the profession and leading education experts.
It is the business end of the year and I hope you are progressing well with completing your ASIP’s, reporting and budgets. Often when we get busy our wellbeing priorities are the thing that drops off. This is actually the most important time to look after our wellbeing when we are at our busiest. As many of you are aware my wellbeing goal is a commitment to playing tennis twice a week However when it is 39 degrees when you start playing it might be time to re-evaluate my goal! What is your goal and how are your ensuring you achieve it?
Please stay well.
Warm regards,
Britany Roestenburg

Safeguard each students return in 2021 by completing RoadSet before Christmas.
The Australian Road Safety Foundation in conjunction with the Australian Government has recently launched RoadSet across the Nation. Aligned with the Australian Curriculum, RoadSet focuses on education around being a safe pedestrian, passenger, using rideables (bike, skateboard, scooters etc.), & ultimately becoming a driver. Educating students during their formative years and fostering positive changes towards road use. Giving students the knowledge and understanding they need to use the road in all its forms well before they get behind the wheel. RoadSet is a free, interactive online learning experience and educational tool designed for Year 9 students. Providing ready-made lesson plans and educator resources to teachers, RoadSet is flexible with the ability to be incorporated into individual school schedules.WLA Connect

Bopinda is a small, family-based business which was conceptualised to provide ethically sourced uniforms and other wholesale items, in an environmentally conscious, socially responsible and sustainable way.
Our extensive School Uniform range includes but is not limited to; shorts, polos, tees, shirts, tracksuits, skorts, jumpers, and dresses.
Having lived in the Territory ourselves, we understand the requirements for breathable clothing in the tropical and warmer parts of Australia.
Our process can be simply defined in these steps:
- Digital design creation and implementation (mock ups)
- Choosing the right fabric for your school’s needs
- Creating samples for approval
- Delivering Uniforms to your school within the desired timeframe
We will be moving all our operations to Darwin in January next year as most of our current customers are based in the Northern parts of Australia. This will ensure for a more streamlined and efficient delivery and an opportunity for us to work with the NT Government schools as we will be Territory-based.
Over the past couple of years, we have invested a lot of research and development into using more sustainable fabrics.
We are currently revamping our website and are working towards some exciting new things.
All uniform items can be made using either organic/natural fabrics and fibres or recycled products.
